Montejo de la Vega de Serrezuela is located on the left-hand bank of the River Riaza. It had an outstanding and important position during the repopulation period through the XI century. Remains from these dates can be seen in its castle’s walls.

A settling place for a Late Roman village, in its land one can find the Natural Park of Hoces del Río Riaza and the Linares Reservoir.

Places of interest

• The parish church of Montejo is dedicated to Saint Andrew. It is modern, located in the centre of the village and has an unusual tower.
• In an incomparable nook, near the River Riaza, one can find the ruins of San Martín del Casuar Convent and also the chapel of Casuar. The aforementioned, has a semicircular apse, a triumphant arch, a half piped vaulted ceiling and a stone oven-shaped presbytery. The ensemble is Romanesque and considered to be one of the best in Castile and León, it is a historical and artistic monument.
• The chapel of Nuestra Señora del Valle. It is very close to the Birds of Prey and Carrion Reserve, founded by Félix Rodriguez de la Fuente in 1975. Scenery nearby includes the incredible natural caves: Búho, Cazorra and Marcielaguera.
• Typical underground wine cellars and a flour mill on the bed of the River Riaza.
