The old Las Animas Wine Cellar, now the Interpretation Centre for Wine Architecture (CIAVIN), is tunnelled under an 18th Century building. It clearly shows the intense activity of wine culture in this riverside region, since the Middle Ages.

CIAVIN, the Interpretation Centre for Wine Architecture, is situated beneath an 18th century building. A network of tunnels where, for centuries since the middle-ages, inhabitants have made and stored wine.

It symbolises the historic importance of wine culture in Aranda de Duero region.

But these weren´t only wine presses& cellars. More importantly they served as the perfect place for social life, sharing wine-making know-how and celebrating the town´s Fiestas. “Las Animas” or “Ciavin” recreates scenes from the voluminous history of wine, using life-size sculptures, audio-visual materials, models, wall displays, and ethnographic exhibits.
